When submitting an employee for a reinvestigation, the security officer first sends the SF86 template to the employee/candidate. Upon receipt of an updated SF86, the next step is to create a 4311 form for that employee/candidate. Once both forms are completed, they are submitted to the government for processing. Depending on the clearance level requested, a polygraph interview may then be scheduled and conducted. After an adjudication period, the clearance is either granted or denied.
